JOB TITLE: HIGH NEEDS (LIFE) PARA/DRIVER - SENIOR HIGH

REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma
- First aid/CPR certificate desired
- Driver’s license and good driving record
- Must pass a DOT physical

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Consistent and punctual "on site" attendance at the worksite is an essential job function
- Types, draws, writes and duplicates instructional material; makes educational games and aids
- Listens to students read, and reads to students
- Helps students with make-up work
- Assists in individual or group activities, games, flash cards, computers, etc.
- Assists students in interpreting and following directions of teacher
- Drills - to reinforce any skill the teacher has taught
- Alerts teacher to needs of students
- Assists teacher in checking progress of individualized study projects
- Supervises lunchroom, playground, halls, classrooms and other assigned activities
- Prepares bulletin boards, charts, and graphs
- Assists with the physical and health needs of the children, such as feeding and toileting
- Assists with augmentative communication/electronic devices/be willing to be trained for use
- Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects and notifies the proper authorities in the case of mechanical failure
- Follows guidelines for loading/unloading students
- Transports only authorized students
- Obeys all traffic laws; observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses
- Keeps to assigned schedule
- Maintains discipline when students are on the bus/van and reports undisciplined students to the proper authority
- Discharges students only at authorized stops
- Keeps assigned bus clean
- Reports all accidents and advises about all possible safety problems
- Transfers and positions students with physical disabilities
- Does miscellaneous typing and filing
- Inventories books, materials and equipment
- Assists when emergencies arise
- Performs other delegated non-instructional responsibilities assigned by teacher or administrator

- Skills in organization, leadership and human relations
- Visual and auditory skills for dealing with students
