JOB TITLE: Media Paraprofessional

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • At least three years successful experience working with computers  and other digital devices (preferred)
  • Experience in training others with technology
  • Familiarity with educational technology as it pertains to school based applications
  • Knowledge of appropriate resources for software and hardware availability
  • Pass district background check
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholder groups

REPORTS TO: Director of Teaching and Learning and Building Principals

 

RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Director of Teaching and Learning and Building Principals

 

JOB GOAL: Provide technical support to instructional and support staff pursuing the integration of technology into the classroom. Assist in the smooth and efficient operation of computer/technology applications including hardware, software, training, and instruction. Organize and assist K-6 media budget development and inventory accountability. Computer/technology application responsibilities are to be coordinated with the administrative instructional goals of the school system through the Director of Teaching and Learning.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine Months

 

EVALUATION: Annually

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Consistent, punctual attendance is an essential component to the position
  • Support and maintain instructional technology and training
  • Communicate with others (written and verbal) in a friendly, professional, and tactful manner
  • Provide advice and support in technology related purchases
  • Attend district technology related meetings as required
  • Provide technical assistance as needed to supervisors and colleagues
  • Responsible for maintaining a district wide inventory of software and hardware equipment and book databases
  • Responsible for attending appropriate staff development opportunities in order to keep current on technology trends
  • Initiate and accurately complete approved Purchase Orders
  • Assist with technology related classroom applications as needed
  • Perform occasional trouble-shooting and minor repairs to include: Smart Boards and Chromebooks
  • Assist in the ordering of supplies and equipment
  • Work with staff in support of Internet, LAN, WAN and other related issues
  • Assist in the liquidation of out dated technology materials
  • Assist with staff training seminars and workshops as appropriate
  • Responsible for enlisting and training building level technology facilitators
  • Work with media center personnel to support technology use in media centers
  • Assist in developing recommendations for the proper support and application of technology
  • Assist in the development of a system-wide software distribution plan, software exchange, and selection system for the utilization of computer software within the school system
  • Other duties as assigned
