JOB TITLE:     JOM/Title IX Home-School Coordinator

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:   

  • Associate's Degree Minimum; Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Nebraska driver's license; good driving record
  • Ability to pass background check and child abuse/neglect registry check
  • Own transportation with valid registration & insurance
  • No criminal record

REPORTS TO:  Director of Student Programs

 

RECIEVES GUIDANCE FROM:  Director of Student Programs

 

JOB GOAL:   Primary duties are concerned with the coordination of services for improving the educational and cultural needs of Native American students in the Norfolk Public School System, and other schools participating in the JOM program.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  10 Months

 

EVALUATION:  Evaluated annually by the Director of Student Programs

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist Native American students in improving basic educational skills as prescribed by their teacher(s)
  • Assist students in identifying individual cultural needs and plan with school personnel how to best meet these needs
  • Act as a liaison between students, their families, and the schools through identifying issues, problem solving and advocacy for Native American students
  • Will be responsible for all reports and documentation (grant application preparation) for JOM and Title IX programs and/or those designated by supervisor
  • Will provide technical assistance and/or consultant services to school staff on issues regarding Native Americans.
  • Will provide and/or coordinate tutorial services under the JOM and Title IX programs
  • Encourage students for consistent attendance in school, extra-curricular activities, and Native American cultural events
  • Monitors academic performance of Native American students and assists parents and teachers in finding solutions for students at risk of failure
  • Assist parents in getting Native American students to come to school
  • Experience in working with Native Americans
  • Knowledge of Native American cultural differences
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Other duties as assigned.
