ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Consistent and punctual "on site" attendance at the worksite is an essential job function
- Checks bus/van before each operation for mechanical defects and notifies the proper authorities in the case of mechanical failure
- Follows guidelines for loading/unloading students
- Transports only authorized students
- Obeys all traffic laws
- Keeps to assigned schedule
- Maintains discipline when students are on the bus/van and reports undisciplined students to the proper authority
- Discharges students only at authorized stops
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses/vans
- Keeps assigned bus/van clean
- Reports all accidents and advises about all possible safety problems
- Performs other delegated responsibilities assigned by teacher or administrator
- Listens to students read, and reads to students
- Helps students with make-up work
- Assists in individual or group activities, games, flash cards, computers, etc.
- Assists students in interpreting and following directions of teacher
- Reinforce social skills the teacher has taught
- Alerts teacher to needs of students
- Assists teacher in checking progress of individuals
- Supervises lunchroom, playground, halls, classrooms and other assigned activities
- Assists with the physical and health needs of the children
- Inventories books, materials and equipment
- Assists when emergencies arise
