JOB TITLE: COACH/SPONSOR

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred
- Valid, current Nebraska teaching certificate or Nebraska Supervisory Certificate preferred
- Previous teaching and coaching experience desired
- First aid and CPR training desired
- Knowledge of NSAA rules and regulations
- Average 20 hours per week, with practices and games
REPORTS TO: Building Principal, Activities Director, and Varsity Head Coach
JOB GOAL: To organize and implement a learning program which fosters improved physical fitness, excellent sportsmanship, and teamwork. The coach / sponsor will be expected to teach and develop the student's knowledge and skills required in each particular activity.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: To be determined - salary to be established by the Board of Education
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teaches basic, fundamental skills; develops advanced skills
- Develops positive personality traits in students, such as self-esteem, confidence,integrity, punctuality, collaboration, and loyalty
- Instills character in students including a sense of fair play and a positive attitude toward winning and losing
- Provides opportunities that will allow the program to facilitate experiences where students cope with challenges and handle stressful situations similar to those encountered in real life
- Provide support for students and work to develop and enrich resiliency in students.
- Improves the overall fitness levels of students
- Encourages students to participate, develop and value learning.
- Obeys and respects decisions of referees and officials.
- Sets the example of exemplary behavior and self discipline at all times
- Collaborates with teaching staff; observes eligibility requirements for participating students
- Records attendance and performance of each student
- Encourages students to participate in more extracurricular activities to develop a wider variety of skills.
- Inventories equipment keeping accurate records of damage and losses
- Recommends equipment and supply budget to superiors
- Attends professional meetings; keeps learning about new developments in the sport
- Maintains proper endorsements/authorizations through meetings, workshops and other professional development courses.
- Performs other duties within the scope of employment and certification as assigned by the appropriate administrator
