JOB TITLE: K-4 SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER (LIFE)

 

REQUIREMENTS:

REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Director of Student Programs

                                                                         

RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Building Principal and Director of Student Programs

 

JOB GOAL: Provide instruction to students with significant cognitive and/or pervasive developmental disabilities. The needs of these students require a functional curriculum focused on the acquisition of daily living and vocational skills leading to a successful transition to adult life within the community. The instruction will focus on practical academics, communication, community, domestic, leisure/recreation, and vocational skills utilizing an approved curriculum. These programs emphasize communication, maximum independence, and opportunities to generalize skills in natural settings as well as participation in general education activities with peers.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine month school year or as established by the Board of Education

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of administrative guidelines and evaluated by building principal and/or Special Education Coordinator
