JOB TITLE: Achievement Center Paraprofessional – Senior High
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma
- Associate Degree Preferred
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator; Special Education Teacher
RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Building Administrator, Special Education Teacher
JOB GOAL: Assist the teacher in providing and reinforcing education and instruction to students
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine Months, School year only
EVALUATION: Special Education Teacher and Building Principal
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Consistent and punctual "on site" attendance at the worksite is an essential job function
- Works with small groups of students, as directed by the teacher, to reinforce directions or tutor in needed areas
- Listens to students read, and reads to students
- Helps students with make-up work
- Assists in individual or group activities, games, flash cards, computers, etc.
- Assists students in interpreting and following directions of teacher
- Drills - to reinforce any skill the teacher has taught
- Types, draws, writes and duplicates instructional material
- Makes educational games and aids
- Alerts teacher to needs of students
- Assists teacher in checking progress of individualized study projects
- Supervises halls, classrooms and other assigned activities
- Assists with loading and unloading of special education buses
- Transfers and positions students with physical disabilities
- Does miscellaneous typing and filing
- Inventories books, materials and equipment
- Assists when emergencies arise
- Performs other delegated non-instructional responsibilities assigned by teacher or administrator
OTHER REQUIREMENTS (Intellectual, Sensory):
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Skills in organization, leadership and human relations
- Visual and auditory skills for dealing with students
